Enchanted Village
The annual gathering was approaching in the Enchanted Village.
From every direction, the villagers flocked to the druid’s hut. Before the ceremony, each of them had to restore their colors. Here, color was not a matter of appearance. It revealed who you were.
The druid stepped out of his hut carrying his tuning fork.
One by one, the villagers came forward.
The first was a dull red. The druid raised his tuning fork and set it vibrating. A few seconds later, the red regained its brilliance.
The next arrived in a yellow that had almost faded away. The druid changed the frequency. The yellow flared back to life.
Then came a green villager. Then a blue one. Each time, the druid adjusted the frequency until he restored exactly the color he was looking for.
Villager after villager, the Enchanted Village regained its colors.
The last one came running.
He was completely desaturated.
The druid raised his tuning fork and set it vibrating.
Nothing.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
The druid looked at him for a few seconds, then calmly put away his tuning fork.
“You’ll come back last year.”
